MAMMALS & BIRDS

THERE IS NO FUTURE IN FACTORY FARMING:
For quite some time, we have experienced, what human greed can do to mammals and birds in the "Factory Farming" industry. These living, breathing, feeling sentient beings are kept under horribly cramped and filthy conditions, just to squeeze as much out of them, in the shortest possible time, as can be done.

There has been an alarming rate in the use of antibiotics just to keep the whole thing flowing, sort of...
This situation is a breeding ground for a weakened immune system and an escalation of the risk of infections and diseases.

And voila: we got SALMONELLA, SWINE FLU, FOOT and MOUTH DISEASE, BIRD FLU, and recently outbreaks of COVID, leading to millions of animals being killed.

This whole system creates immense suffering for the mammals and birds, and it is an "investment", from the side of humans, which turns out to be increasingly risky, and non-profitable.

WHAT KIND OF AGRICULTURE DO WE WANT?
We should keep the "culture" in agriculture, and create a KIND and COMPASSIONATE AGRICULTURE.
First and foremost we must adapt to "The Charter of Animal Rights" and let that be the legal foundation for a transition away from suffering and misery.

Immediately ban all "Factory Farming".

Immediately ban all slaughterhouses.

The current subsidies for "Factory Farming" and its products should be taken away and instead used to invest in a different approach.

Now, we must be respectful in communicating with farmers. I have known quite a lot of these hard working people, and many of them are not happy with their practise, but feel trapped financially.

Let us remember, farmers are individualistic people, they work hard, they are proud of their farm and they experience real joy from both "Ownership" and "Growership" of their products.

My aim is to have a dialogue with them and offer real help for them to make a transition in a new direction.

INVEST IN A TRANSITION STRATEGY:
Let us think along these lines:
STOP the ongoing "Factory Farming" immediately
Farmers sign up for the "Transition Strategy"
Their property is evaluated according to land, mammals and birds, infrastructure and pollution
Their mortgages are re-financed with interest free loans
Volunteers help with new websites and marketing
Volunteers help with the practical arrangements for mammals, birds and infrastructure
Possibilities for others to invest in the new structure on a private and corporate basis, as well

GREEN GROWTH:
Where the land is suitable for "Green Growth", the farmer should receive help to set up, whatever the land could carry. This is a great opportunity for the education of children, as well as sale at a local "Farmer's Market" apart from whole sale produce, of course.

SANCTUARIES:
The mammals and birds should be given spacious and adequate accommodation to live their lives as well as possible. The income could come from donations, volunteers would come to stay and work and this is a great learning environment for kids to learn about, and respect, animals.
